History

Pend Oreille Bible Camp was created in the late 1990’s on the bequest of Mr. and Mrs. Harrold, who had the desire to leave their property to establish a camping facility that would benefit the youth of our area and promote the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In keeping with this vision they donated 180 wooded acres along the banks of the Pend Oreille River to Dalkena Community Church, under the agreement that they would establish and oversee the continuing operation of a camping facility.

Since that time the Lord has done amazing things in the raising of volunteers, workers and funding to establish a beautiful property which includes a main meeting hall with commercial kitchen and dining facilities, recreational field, cabins and lodging for up to 100+ people, swimming and picnic areas, parking, RV camp sites and other facilities. These are all nestled among the pines in a secluded and natural environment providing the opportunity for rest, recreation and spiritual renewal for a variety of Christian groups.

The initial purpose of the camp was to support the needs of the children of the churches associated with the Village Missions organization, one of which is Dalkena Community Church, and the Pinecroft Bible Camping program, which is an affiliation of several of these churches.

Through the Pinecroft Bible Camping program and the growth of other church sponsored camps, literally thousands of children stayed, enjoyed and benefited from the services of Pend Oreille Bible Camp, with many of these hearing the gospel for the first time.

Recently purchased by the Spokane Baptist Church on the Hill, Pend Oreille Bible Camp remains dedicated to serving youth and the community by providing a facility with venue flexibility and a warm Christian atmosphere at affordable rates. It is also available for lease by other church groups and ministries throughout the year.

In order to keep costs affordable to everyone, Pend Oreille Bible Camp relies heavily on volunteer support in roles varying from grounds upkeep to kitchen duties and counselors.
